Our first case in the theatre was that of 65 year retired man who sustained injury to the right knee following a fall on account of domestic accident. A diagnosis of transverse patella fracture was made after necessary investigations. Patient was planned for open reduction and internal fixation with tension bound wire.
An attempt to reduce the fracture with bone clamp further fracture the distal fragment because of osteoporotic nature of the bone. And by the time we eventually finished we spent more than necessary time on this case.
The second case is that of 60-year-old man with recurrent discharge from multiple sinuses on the left thigh and after necessary investigations, a diagnosis of chronic osteomyelitis of the left femur was made and we planned the patient for sequestrectomy and incision and drainage because of associated pyomyositis. And by the time we finished for the day it was already pass 2pm. Thank God our third case discharged himself against medical advice.
My girlfriend is still fighting me and my patient is not talking to me either.
I do not think I can cope with this loneliness any longer. I left hospital around 7:30pm and branch to buy bread along my way home.
Before I could sleep I was able watched ‘body of evidence’, a movies casting Morgan Freeman and Gene Hackman.
